Anderson County Divorce Records

Divorce records are the court files created when the court processes the dissolution of a marriage. Divorce records contain the identities of both spouses, the grounds for divorce, information on the division of property, child custody, and the divorce decree. The divorce decree is arguably the most important file in the record, as it is the court's final order that legally dissolves the marriage.

The Anderson District Clerk maintains divorce records in the county. Under the state's common law, these records are public and can be accessed by anyone; however, sensitive information, like bank account digits and children's names, is redacted. Individuals can search for a divorce record on the Public Access Case and Court Records or visit the District Clerk's Office.
